As I began taking over more teaching responsibilities during my student teaching placement, I sent this letter home to families to reintroduce myself and explain the upcoming figurative language unit in ELA. The letter gave families an overview of the concepts students would be learning, including similes, metaphors, personification, and other types of figurative language.
Communicating with families is an important part of teaching because it helps keep them informed about what their children are learning in the classroom. By sharing this information, families can better understand the skills students are working on and feel more connected to what is happening at school.
This artifact shows how I worked to communicate with families and help them understand what their children are learning as I began taking on a larger teaching role during my student teaching experience.
