This artifact highlights my ability to create purposeful, standards-aligned instruction through long-term unit planning. For this thematic science unit, I designed a 13-day sequence of lessons focused on how animals use their senses to communicate and survive. The unit was based on Pennsylvania STEELS standards and thoughtfully organized to help students build understanding over time through a clear progression of concepts and skills. Each lesson was planned to build on the one before it so students could deepen their thinking and make meaningful connections throughout the unit.
Throughout the unit, students participated in investigations, discussions, hands-on learning experiences, data analysis, and evidence-based writing tasks. They had opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, work collaboratively, and explain their thinking using evidence. I also created a pre-assessment, formative checks, and a post-assessment to monitor student growth and help guide my instructional decisions during the unit.
This artifact reflects my content knowledge, planning skills, and commitment to creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences that support the growth of all learners.
