Hello! My name is Sophie Krueger and I am an Early Childhood and Elementary Education major at Penn State. I have always known that I wanted to work with children, and becoming a teacher has given me the opportunity to turn that passion into a future career. I am excited to create a classroom where students feel happy, supported, and motivated to learn each day.
My teaching philosophy begins with relationships. I believe students learn best when they know their teacher truly cares about them and wants them to succeed. Building trust and creating a positive classroom community is very important to me because students should feel comfortable being themselves, asking questions, and taking risks in their learning.
I also believe learning should be fun, engaging, and meaningful. I want students to be involved in their learning through hands-on activities, discussion, creativity, and collaboration. My goal is to create lessons that students enjoy while also helping them grow academically and build confidence in themselves.
I know that every student is different and learns in their own way. Because of this, I believe it is important to meet students where they are, provide support when needed, and encourage them to keep growing. I want every child to feel capable, included, and proud of the progress they make.
Throughout my student teaching experience, I have also enjoyed experimenting with different ways to engage students and create richer learning experiences. Through an inquiry project I completed during my undergraduate program, I explored strategies to increase meaningful student participation and discussion. I also believe in using student data to guide instruction, reflect on learning, and make decisions that best support student growth.
As you explore the pages of this portfolio, you will find artifacts that reflect my experiences in the classroom, lesson planning, student learning, assessment, and professional growth. Each artifact represents an important part of my journey toward becoming an educator.
Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio. I am excited to continue growing as an educator and begin making a positive impact in the lives of my future students.
